Norfolk Chiropractic Center Answers Common Questions

Are you interested in becoming a part of the Norfolk Chiropractic Center community? We understand that joining a new practice often comes with quite a few questions. Whether you have been under chiropractic care for years or are brand new to the process – we are here to help.

Here are a few of the most common questions we receive.

Once I go the chiropractor, will I always have to go?

No. It is up to each individual patient how they choose to benefit from chiropractic care. We will support you no matter what you decide.

Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?

No, chiropractic adjustments should not hurt. Our approach to care is gentle in nature. It takes little force to restore the spine.

Can I expect soreness or aching after a chiropractic adjustment?

It depends on the person. Though soreness is possible, it occurs infrequently. Please note that if you do feel sore following a chiropractic adjustment with us, it is likely to resolve within one or two days.

Can chiropractic cure everything?

No. There are many benefits of chiropractic care, but it is not a cure-all.

Do you work with children?

Our practice specializes in adult relief and corrective care.

Does insurance cover chiropractic visits?

Yes, most insurance plans include chiropractic care. We are happy to help you look into your specific coverage.

Do I need a referral from my physician to get care?

No. Referrals are not needed to receive chiropractic care.

Do you work with medical doctors?

Yes. We work with medical doctors on a regular basis. In fact, many of our current patients have been referred to us by their primary care physicians.

Will I get adjusted on my first visit?

You will most likely be adjusted on your first visit. It varies depending on the complexity of the case. If necessary, we may have to make additional referrals prior to performing your first chiropractic adjustment.

Will you suggest exercises and other things I can do?

Yes. Rehabilitation is a large part of our practice.

Can someone who has had back surgery see a chiropractor?

Yes, absolutely. We work closely with local medical doctors and see post-surgical patients on regular basis.
